GIMLI,MANITOBA, TO ASSINIBOIA, SASKATCHEWAN

Lamont drove the small motorhome to the corner gas station in Gimli and filled up for the long drive to Regina. The large motorhome, with the bigger diesel tank needs less fill ups.

We followed each other to Headingly to have breakfast with yet another of Lamont's cousins. Viv and her husband, Jim Pearn.

Then we were on our way each with our own RV. We had walkie-talkies to communicate when one or the other needed to stop for fuel, or to stretch, or just wanted to have a conversation. The seven hour drive passed quickly.

We stayed in Regina at the Buffalo Look Out RV Park. Prairie dogs stood on their hind legs and checked us out as we drove in. We were hoping that the WiFi would work so we could get caught up with the blog. It was not to be. We are finding that good intentions with no Internet connection doesn't get the job done. The weather was also quite cool for the time of year and sometime in the night, our furnace quit working. We are on a tight schedule so no time to get it repaired. Just hope for summer.

Great news today. Roger and Ruth, our Road Crew, have made reservations to fly into Regina on June 10. This means we are only without their help for two events (Gimli and Assiniboia). We arrange to leave their motorhome at the RV Park so they can take a taxi from the airport, pick up the RV, and meet us in Swift Current for our event on June 11.

In Regina, we were interviewed for an article in the Regina Leader Post and also by CBC Radio, Saskatchewan.

After our interviews, we drop in to say "hello" at the Regina Home Hardware Store.

The road from Regina to Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, was very interesting and very hilly. Before we started out from Regina, we noticed that the large chrome tail pipe was loose. When we arrived in Assiniboia it was gone.

We arrived in Assiniboia and parked the motorhome on the street in front of Harvey's Home Centre for the night. We met Graham and Scott. Then we went out for a bite to eat. When we returned, Pat from housewares and her husband Ralph were there to greet us. They invited us to their house for a glass of wine.

Our event will be outdoors and everyone is concerned about the Saskatchewan wind. We all decide that we will use the motorhome as a wind block and move it depending on which way the wind is blowing in the morning. We know about the Saskatchewan wind. We lost our 21-foot awning in Saskatchewan in 2003 when the wind took it and blew it over the roof of the motorhome.
