GIMLI, MANITOBA
We were excited to finally be in Gimli. Dolores had been requesting our presence at her store for several years whenever we saw her at one of the Home Hardware Markets in St. Jacobs, Ontario.

Gimli, Manitoba, is on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. It has the largest Islandic population outside of Iceland according to Dolores Harrop, who owns the Gimli Home Hardware Building Centre. Dolores was waiting for us when we pulled the two RVs and the towed car into her parking lot. It was raining hard. Delores got soaked directing us into our parking spots. We got soaked unhooking the towed car. We arrived the day before the event and parked in her parking lot overnight.

Dolores said that the sun would be out in the morning. She was right! it was a beautiful day for our cooking demonstrations under the tent to help raise money for Evergreen Basic Needs.

Heather Brincheski, the Home Hardware Area Manager, was there to help out.

Dolores recruited two assistants to help us set up, prepare the food, and clean up. And it was wonderful to meet Dolores' sister and mother.

Lamont's cousins Bill and Marilyn Mackay were there. After the event, we joined them for a late lunch.
