ASSINIBOIA, SASKATCHEWAN
Harvey's Home Centre event was from 11 to 1. First thing in the moring, we moved the motorhome crosswise from sidewalk to sidewalk to block the wind and the street. Tables, chairs, and barbecues were set up. The wind and the threat of rain did not deter a large crowd from arriving to buy hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks with the proceeds going to the Kinsmen and Kinettes Telemiracle. We created drinks and snacks in the middle of the street. We took an assortment of housewares out of the store to show them off. Like at every other store, we created summer drinks and snacks using the Oster Digital Blender and the DeLonghi Countertop Convection Oven which were raffled off with the proceeds also going to Telemiracle.
We had food preparation assistance, thanks to Jan (Graham Harvey's wife) and we were grateful for the store volunteers who helped carry and set up our equipment.
We enjoyed meeting Dave Bakalech, the Home Hardware Area Manager for Saskatchewan who helped cook the hot dogs and hamburgers for the event.
The motorhome did a good job of fighting off the wind. When we drove out of town and the street was again open to traffic, a bit of Assiniboia traveled out of town with us - the new friends we made and the Saskatchewan dust that had blown into our collapsible silicone strainer and the muffin cups. We head down the road to Swift Current where we know that our "Road Crew" Roger and Ruth will be waiting for us.
