Bee huts and grain elevators...

Views from the road near Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan.

Motorhome in front of George Home Hardware in Melfort, Saskatchewan

We drove through Hudson Bay and Melfort on a Sunday. Unfortunately both Home Hardware stores were closed so we didn't have the opportunity to drop in and say, "Hello."

Barrows, Manitoba

Albert Outhwaite from Valley Home Hardware Building Centre in Swan River, Manitoba, arranged to have Dennis and Jan Hodgson drive us to Barrows to meet Brenda Gaudry.

Brenda has a business called Creative Spirit, Utilizing our Natural Resources. She sees opportunity everywhere she looks. She had us collecting two herbs, wild sage and hyssop, which she uses for teas and ointments and cooking.

Prior to harvesting the wild sage, Brenda made an offering of dried tobacco to thank the Creator for the sage and hyssop.

At her studio, we sampled moose meat with wild morels, wild rice, bannock, and a naturally sweet birch wine.

Brenda's website is http://www.wildernessspirit.ca/

Rice Creek, Manitoba

Dennis and Jan took us off-roading on a side tour to Rice Creek.

Fire look-out tower

They showed us a geocaching site attached to a tree. Geocaching is a hi-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to find hidden outdoor containers called geocaches. We left our business card in the container.
