HOUSTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA

We arrived at Reitsma's Home Hardware at 7 AM, parked the motorhome in the side lot by the store, and went for coffee with Henry and Dorothy.
Henry told us that he was so excited about our coming to Houston that he was waking up at 3 in the morning and going down to the store to work.

Dorothy, Henry, and Troy Reitsma were already setting up tables for their Cooking Ladies' event which included a garage sale and local fire fighters cooking hot dogs and hamburgers.

Joe from Peak Radio brodcasted on location.

Clouds and a threat of rain turned into a scorching hot sunny day.

Ruth, our food stylist, spent most of the event in the motorhome kitchen preparing food for our presentations. Roger, our handler, official photographer, and sound man, set up and tore down the display, captured the event in photos, and acted as our guy "Friday" whenever we needed anything.

The Reitsmas estimated 750 people attended the event.

Phyllis and Lamont donated $50 to the Houston Figure Skating Club.

Dorothy drew the lucky tickets for the Oster blender and the DeLongi countertop oven.

And the winner of the Blender

After the event, we returned the motorhome to the Shady Rest RV Park and went to Henry and Dorothy's home where Troy and his wife, Dominique, joined us for dinner (fresh barbecued salmon) cooked on a 52-inch grill on the Reitsma's wonderful back deck. Dorothy made our strawberry daiquiri recipe, we made hot pepper jelly brie, and Troy made sushi.
